about us

Butternut Publishing is a family-operated and Christ-centered children’s book publisher. Our mission is to help families foster a deeply rooted faith in God in their children. Butternut trees have some of the deepest roots on the planet; these nut trees are hardy and can grow up to 100 feet. Good root depth is essential to the enormous growth of these trees.

As Christian parents, we are called to raise the next generation of believers to have deep roots in the Holy Scriptures, not in a worldly, shallow identity with no hope. It is important to build a family foundation that provides children time to see themselves through their Heavenly Father’s eyes, providing them with an identity that lets them know themselves as a child of God and find their purpose within God’s plan.

“And when they saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age’.” Matthew 28:17-20 (ESV)

Our books help equip parents with stories that facilitate conversations with their children about forming character, applying discipline, building relationships, understanding and nurturing identity, preparing for mission, and the power of family. While the stories may not be faith-based, each book offers a bible memory verse and a family prayer to help build Christ-centered habits as a family.
